Matcha Latte Recipe

I’m a coffee lover who can’t start my day without my morning cup of coffee, I’ve looked into various coffee alternatives because of the high caffeine content and a healthy drink in the morning.  

Discovering matcha latte at Starbucks inspired me to switch my morning routine since it also comes with health benefits.  

Inspired by the Starbucks recipe, I decided to make it myself.  

The preparation feels meditative and brings joy. 

I genuinely enjoyed the whole process of making matcha latte, and I love sharing this wonderful recipe.

 

Ingredients 

Ceremonial grade Matcha Powder – Make sure that the matcha tea is ceremonial grade while buying.

Water – Use hot water to dissolve the matcha powder until there are no lumps left. 

Milk – You can use dairy or non-dairy milk such as almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk. 

           If you prefer a healthy choice or are lactose intolerant, then non-dairy milk is the best option, as it is low in calories and sugar. 

          However, if you prefer a creamy texture and are not lactose intolerant, milk can be a delicious option. 

Sweetener of your choice – I liked matcha latte with honey, but you can try other sweeteners like maple syrup, and vanilla extract.

 

Preparation of Matcha Latte 

Preparing a matcha latte is a relaxing and mindful process, allowing you to enjoy the experience. 

It requires just a few simple steps to create a smooth and flavorful drink.

 

Step 1 – Take ½ teaspoon of matcha powder and use a fine-mesh strainer to sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove the lumps in the mixture

Step 2 – Pour 60 to 70 ml of hot water into the bowl

Step 3 - Whisk vigorously in a zig-zag motion until the mixture is frothy and well combined

Step 4 – Add about ¼ cups (60 ml) of your favourite milk and whisk or use frothed milk for a foamy texture

Step 5 – Add the sweetener of your choice
